Kathy & I got the little "nike + ipod" thingys last week -- they're a cool addition to our nanos to help us run specific distances, speeds, etc. One of the features is that it lets you pick a "powersong" -- a motivational song that you can get at anytime by just holding down the center button. The idea is that sometimes you just need a little extra oomph to stay in your run or kick it up a notch. I'm not going to tell you what my powersong is -- it's embarrassingly teenybopper. But that's sort of not the point. It works for me, and that's what's important.
What I realized on my run today was that my library board meeting, which I blogged about this morning, was sort of a powersong for me -- gave me an extra motivational boost. Reminded me to focus in on the things that matter. That's pretty neat.
So now I'm trying to notice what my other powersongs are. I'll notice a couple of them again as soon as I get out of here and get home for the evening.
Do you know what your powersongs are?
